It was a disappointing Tuesday evening for West Bromwich Albion fans as we again welcomed Millwall to The Hawthorns, but this time for our first round EFL Cup clash.
Having been held to a point in the weekend’s Championship action, deadline day signing Charlie Austin got off to a flying start in our shirt as he found the back of the net after just nine minutes of the tie being played. With us unable to make more of our better control of the game, Millwall hit back twice to take the win and dump us out of the Cup.
They don’t come much easier than that on your debut, right place right time pic.twitter.com/krZAIWjL7F

With some positives, and again negatives coming from the game, at least seeing 30-year-old Austin get off the mark in his debut was something that gave the fans a reason to smile. There’s a big weight on the former Southampton man’s shoulders when it comes to replacing the goal threat of Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle, so that goal should certainly help him settle in.
Another 25 of those will do just nicely Chaz

Contrary to some of the comments coming from Southampton fans when he signed, some fans of his former side were happy to congratulate him for getting off the mark as well.
Natural goal scorers find themselves in the right place and tight time. Class act

Well done. Might be easy but you have to get yourself in the right place to make it easy.

Well done Charlie.
Saints loss is Albions gain.
Good luck ????— mark white (@saintmark22) August 14, 2019
Madness that we let a proven goalscorer go and yet we do nothing to replace his goals.
Still we have the prolific Shane Long to chip in his 2 goals a season ????— Ludacris (@ludacrismitch) August 14, 2019
