Providing West Brom finish the job and win promotion, the first fixture that many fans will be looking for next season will be the derby against Wolves.
The two sides have not met since 2012, when Roy Hodgson’s side demolished their rivals 5-1 on their own patch, so there’s sure to be a lot of hype and anticipation ahead of their next clash and Albion fans will be hoping it’s in the next campaign. Whilst Wanderers are a different club now, it’s a fixture that will hold no fear for the Baggies.
That’s because, as well as the 5-1, there have been other important wins at Molineux, with the club looking back at one that came on this day in 2008 on Twitter.

With Albion seeking automatic promotion and Wolves a top-six finish, there was a lot at stake going into the night game and it was the visitors who secured the points and moved to the top of the league with three games to play thanks to a goal from Hungarian favourite Zoltan Gera. To make things sweeter, the Baggies went on to win the league under Tony Mowbray and Wolves missed out on a play-off spot on goal difference.
Will West Brom be in the Premier League next season?
Yes
No
So, it unsurprisingly brings back a lot of positive memories for the fans and here we look at some of the comments…
There were games to be played afterwards but if we hadn’t won this we wouldn’t have been Champs and Wolves would have made the Play Offs. Thanks for always being our whipping dogs Dingles 👍🏻

Result might’ve been close but we absolutely dominated this game from the first minute. The gulf in quality between the two teams at the time was massive.
