With speculation ramping up in recent days that we had made a move for Cardiff City striker Kenneth Zohore, on Friday afternoon West Bromwich Albion announced the 25-year-old attacker as our new No 9.
The Danish player heads in for an undisclosed fee but it’s believed to be in the region of £7/8million and he does become new head coach Slaven Bilic’s second signing of the summer.
We're delighted to announce the signing of striker Kenneth Zohore from @CardiffCityFC on a four-year contract.
Give our new No.9 a warm welcome, Baggies! ????????#WelcomeKen | #WBAhttps://t.co/as4zfsFmqi

Zohore has signed a four year deal at The Hawthorns and although plenty of fans will be mixed on his capture given his goal return, speaking to wba.co.uk Bilic was certainly delighted with his signing.
“He is a player who has got more than a bit of everything, he’s strong, he has pace, he has good skill. He knows the league, he knows the country, he’s already got good experience but he’s still got room to improve. He’s not the finished article. I hope he’s going to be a very good player for us.”
During his time in Wales, he scored 24 times in 67 starting appearances with a further 34 showings from the substitutes bench but I think most fans will agree with Bilic that he’s certainly not the ‘finished article’ but he has shown reasonable flashes that will have some excited that if he can hit the ground running he could become an unexpected fan favourite.
Zohore himself has said all the right things for those in the fanbase who feel it’s a risk.
“It’s a new, big challenge for me and I’m really looking forward to playing games and scoring goals here. I want to help this club get back to the Premier League. I spoke to Slaven and he told me about the way he wants to play football and how he sees me fitting into the system. As a player, it’s important to have a manager that believes in you and makes you feel good. I’m hungry to do well. Nobody has seen my best yet but I know that it will be coming soon.”
The consensus from Cardiff fans seems to be ‘if’ we can get him on form, we’ll enjoy him, so let’s all hope that’s how it goes. I don’t think the Gayle comparisons are useful for anyone here really.
Welcome! Now lets get behind him and not slag him off before he's played!

What?! Zohore has scored 23 goals total in championship in 3 seasons, Gayle has scored 23 in a single season TWICE, Zohore averages a goal in the championship every 3.3 games, Gayle every 1.6, Zohore is *literally* half the player Gayle is.
