What a night to be a West Brom fan last night was.
After a season where automatic promotion looked a certainty for so long, the campaign ended on something of a nervous note, with many checking for updates on results elsewhere that could still have broken Baggies hearts.
In the end though, with Brentford losing to Barnsley and Fulham held to a 1-1 draw at Wigan, a 2-2 stalemate with QPR was enough to confirm West Brom’s promotion back to the Premier League after two seasons in the Championship.
That success was a quite remarkable achievement for Slaven Bilic in his first season in charge at West Brom, and means that the decision the club took in appointing the Croatian last summer has certainly paid off.
Soon it will be time to start planning for the Baggies’ return to English football’s top-flight, but as the final whistle blew on Wednesday, those of a West Brom association were rightly keen to celebrate and reflect on confirmation of their promotion back to the Premier League.
Here, we take a look at what some Baggies fans had to say on Twitter, after that dramatic final night of action.
Unbelievable end to the season, huge congrats to @BarnsleyFC and @stokecity for m,sing the last few days so tense, good look to them next year. Now our hard work begins ⚽️👍. Not how we wud have wanted it to end but the point say we were gud enough, well done @BigBilic & @wba
