West Brom confirm agreement with eight-goal attacker

|

West Brom have completed the permanent signing of winger Grady Diangana from West Ham, the club have confirmed.

Diangana was a key figure for the Baggies during a season-long loan at The Hawthorns, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in 30  appearances to help Slaven Bilic’s side secure automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

Now Diangana is back at the club for good, after putting pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Baggies that will keep him at The Hawthorns until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Speaking to West Brom’s official website about his decision to leave West Ham and return to the Baggies, Diangana said: “West Ham was all I had known before last season and I’m sure people will understand that I felt some sadness at leaving.

“But coming here having had that season we have just experienced, there were no nerves about leaving at all.

“Knowing the manager and the players and the feelings I have got for the club just made me excited.”

Although the official price of the deal is undisclosed, reports from elsewhere have claimed that the Baggies have paid a minimum £18million for Diangana, which would make this a record transfer for the club.

Given the supposedly small budget West Brom are supposedly working with this summer, it is good to see that they have still gone big here, and you hope they will be ready to do the same over the coming weeks.

It is also good to see Diangana back at The Hawthorns, after the impact and contribution he made during the previous campaign.

The 22-year-old showed then that he is ready for the step up to the Premier League, and you feel there will be a great deal of excitement around West Brom that they are the club he will do that with.
