Report: West Brom ready to step up pursuit of 13-goal striker

|

West Brom continue to monitor Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi and he is likely to be a top target for Albion if they win promotion to the Premier League.

Reports emerged earlier in the month suggesting that the Kosovo international, who has scored 13 goals in 25 games in the Turkish top-flight this season, was somebody on the Baggies radar. Importantly, they added that the player was keen on challenging himself in the Premier League and the Yellow Canaries were happy to sell for around €20m – a fee Albion would supposedly pay.

There had been no further updates on this potential deal in the past week but Haberturk’s Fenerbahce journalist Serdar Ali Celikler told VOLE on YouTube that the West Midlands outfit are ‘seriously’ interested in Muriqi. However, he stated that West Brom won’t have a free run at the 26-year-old because there is interest from two other top-flight English sides, whilst Lazio are also said to be monitoring his situation.

Will West Brom be in the Premier League next season?

Yes

No

Bringing Muriqi to The Hawthorns would be a major coup for Albion as he has scored goals regularly in the Turkish Super Lig and he has previously been linked with Tottenham.

Whether this deal can get finalised or not, it seems as though bringing in a new striker will be a priority for Slaven Bilic if his team do win promotion. Despite the great success the side have had this season, with Albion second in the Championship, they haven’t had a clinical striker. Hal Robson-Kanu is the club’s top scorer with just ten strikes to his name.
