Report suggests door has opened for West Brom to secure signing of 26-y/o striker

|

West Brom have been alerted to the possible availability of Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on loan this summer, a report from The Sun has claimed.

Batshuayi is about to enter the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues are seemingly keen to move him on, with the Belgian down the pecking order in Frank Lampard’s side.

However, it seems as though the London club are having to be creative in the way they do that in order to avoid the striker leaving for nothing this time next year, which could now work in West Brom’s favour.

According to the latest reports, Chelsea will hand Batshuayi a new contract – which will increase his wages to £100,000 per week – before loaning him out for the coming campaign in the hope his performances will convince a club to come in with an offer for him on a permanent deal.

It is thought that has caught the interest of West Brom, with the Baggies unable to afford to buy the striker, but could now move for him on loan.

As well as the Baggies, Crystal Palace and Newcastle are also thought to have been alerted to Batshuayi’s situation by this latest update, although any club who signs the 26-year-old is expected to have to pay a significant amount of the striker’s wages.

Consequentially, this will not be a cheap deal for West Brom to complete, although it could be worth them looking into it anyway, with Slaven Bilic’s side still needing to sign an out and out striker to get them the goals they will surely need if they are to have a chance of avoiding relegation this season.
