Report: Player’s stance on reported West Brom transfer interest revealed

|

Huddersfield striker Karlan Grant is desperate to secure a move to West Brom this summer, according to a report from The Daily Mail.

It was revealed earlier this summer that the Baggies have had a bid rejected for Grant, but that the Championship promotion winners are considering a fresh offer for the 22-year-old.

Now it seems as though Slaven Bilic and co. have been handed a welcome boost in their pursuit of the attacker, with the latest reports claiming that Grant wants to make the move to The Hawthorns in the current transfer window.

It is thought the striker has become frustrated with the Terriers refusal to budge over their £17million asking price, with West Brom said to be lining up a bid worth a total of £15million.

Bilic is said to want to have a striker in place before the visit of Leicester to The Hawthorns for the first game of the new Premier League season on Sunday afternoon, although it remains to be seen if they will be able to get the signing of Grant over the line by then.

This should however, provide plenty of encouragement for West Brom, whose need for a new striker you can certainly understand, given none of their current attacking options were prolific in front of goal last season.

The fact that Grant wants this move ought to help the club, given the pressure it puts on Huddersfield, who may not want to keep the player at the club if his frustrations around this situation are going to make things difficult for them.

As a result, you could see the Terriers’ stance easing as the window moves towards its end, even if it may not come quickly enough to have Grant in the side come Sunday afternoon.
