Journalist explains problem arising with senior West Brom man’s potential Hawthorns exit

Wages are proving a sticking point in striker Kenneth Zohore’s potential move from West Brom to Sheffield Wednesday, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Zohore only joined the Baggies from Cardiff last summer, but endured an underwhelming debut campaign with the club, despite their automatic promotion to the Premier League.

It now appears as though West Brom are keen to get Zohore off their books this summer, although it seems they are having some trouble doing that, with Nixon’s latest update claiming that while both the Baggies and Wednesday are keen on a permanent move to Hillsborough for the striker, wages are proving problematic in completing a deal.

That is something that has reportedly been made harder by a promotion bonus inserted in the 26-year-old’s contract, which means that even a loan move is currently proving difficult to pull off.

Even so, it is said that both clubs are still working with the aim of completing a deal for Zohore, although it seems as though a move is far from guaranteed.

Given the boost that receiving a transfer fee and cutting Zohore from the wages could give them as they look to get deals of their own over the line, this will surely be frustrating for the Baggies, considering they still need to sign a striker to get them goals in the Premier League this season.

However, given he money he is making from his current contract, and the opportunity to play in the Premier League he has right now, you can’t really blame Zohore for not backing down over his salary with regards to a move to Wednesday.

That being said, you do feel that Zohore would have a greater chance of regular first-team football with Garry Monk’s side, and it is slightly surprising that that is not more tempting for him.
