Report details West Brom’s stance on rejected transfer offer

|

West Brom remain undeterred in their pursuit of Huddersfield Town striker Karlan Grant, according to a report from Birmingham Live.

Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett recently revealed that the Baggies are in talks with the Terriers over the striker, who they value at £16million, although subsequent updates have suggested that an initialoffer has been rejected.

Despite that, it seems the club’s attempts to bring Grant to The Hawthorns are far from over, with the latest reports claiming that West Brom continue to hold discussions with Huddersfield over Grant, and are contemplating a fresh bid for the attacker.

It is thought that that fresh bid could eclipse the club record £18million they paid Tottenham in the summer of 2016.

There are two years remaining on Grant’s contract with Huddersfield, which means that the Terriers are in a position to negotiate any offer any that the Baggies or any other club might make for the 22-year-old.

With the Baggies still in desperate need of a striker if they are to be competitive in the Premier League next season, it is encouraging to see that they are not giving up easily in their pursuit of Grant.

The striker has shown throughout his career so far that he has the ability to find the net, and that is just what Slaven Bilic’s side need if they are to have a chance of survival next season.

Even so, you do feel that with a limited budget this summer, the Baggies are going to have to be careful not to overspend here, given there are other areas of their squad they will also need to add to in the current window.
