Report assesses when West Brom could complete major signing

|

West Brom are close to announcing the permanent signing of attacker Matheus Pereira from Sporting Lisbon, a report from a print edition of Portuguese newspaper Record has claimed.

Pereira joined West Brom on a season-long loan back in the summer transfer window, and enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign at The Hawthorns, scoring eight goals and providing 16 assists to help the club win automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

The Brazilian also made the required number of appearances for the Baggies to activate a clause to make that loan move permanent, which can be done for £8.5million, and it seems the club are not far away from doing that.

According to the latest reports, the financial windfall that West Brom have earned from their return to the top-flight of English football, means that the club should be able to pay a considerable amount of that fee for the 24-year-old.

While it remains to be seen exactly when news of the deal will be confirmed, the report goes on to claim that an announcement is expected sooner rather than later.

This will surely be a big relief for everyone associated with West Brom.

Pereira was outstanding for the Baggies last season, and you feel he could be a big asset for them again in the Premier League, meaning it is no surprise to see plenty of fans desperate to see his permanent signing confirmed.

Judging by this, they may not have much longer to wait, which will of course ease the nerves around Pereira’s situation, and put the club as a whole in a much stronger position to be competitive on their return to English football’s top-flight in the coming campaign.
