Opinion: Slaven Bilic’s West Brom squad have got key ingredient for promotion

|

West Brom fans have loved every minute of their Championship season so far, and that doesn’t look like changing anytime soon. The Baggies hit four in their last game against Bristol City, retaining their spot at the top of the Championship for yet another game week.

For Bilic’s side to stay at the top of the Championship and eventually make their way back to the Premier League then they’ll have to maintain their levels and get a stroke of luck along the way too. However, they’ve got the talent and the know-how to go up, as well as having one other key element.

That key ingredient is something that not a lot of clubs in the Championship have, but the amount of Premier League experience in this West Brom side is a massive bonus for them, and will certainly serve Bilic and his squad well when going into the tougher games.

The likes of Jake Livermore (178), Charlie Austin (106), Kieran Gibbs (170), Gareth Barry (653) and Chris Brunt (269) have got almost 1400 combined appearances in the top flight, and that experience of playing in the big games at the highest level will prove invaluable.

There is an amazing mix of talented youthfulness and canny experience in this West Brom side, and it’s certainly something that’s getting the Baggies excited as they fill up The Hawthorns every other week, and come the end of the season it could just end in promotion for Bilic and his squad.

Will Slaven Bilic guide us back to the Premier League?

Yes

No

Obviously, between now and the end of the season there is an awful long way to go, but given the experience, and talent, in this side managed by their Croatian mastermind, it looks like they could be set for a return to the top flight very soon.
