Kyle Edwards is out of contract at West Bromwich Albion this summer, but it’s unlikely he’ll be allowed to leave as he’s become an important player under Slaven Bilic.
The 22-year-old broke into the side last season but wasn’t a regular until this campaign. He’s made 28 appearances in all competitions and looks to have a bright future.
Edwards rose through the youth ranks to the Albion first-team in 2018, making his debut in August, and has gone on to amass 39 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and making three assists. He was in Bilic’s squad for every Championship game until February too.
It may worry supporters that his contract is up in the coming months, but Albion have offered Edwards a new deal. The Baggies are on course for promotion to the Premier League too, so the 22-year-old should be willing to extend his stay. He joined Albion’s academy at the age of seven after all.
With Chris Brunt expected to leave at the end of his deal this summer while Callum Robinson, Grady Diangana and Matheus Pereira’s loans will all to an end in a few months, Edwards will be needed on the wing. He can play on either flank and in a central midfield role, so Bilic can’t afford to lose him.
The new deal Albion have offered the Englishman will land him a £0.47m-a-year payrise, so he should commit his future to the Hawthorns.
