Opinion: Despite fantastic form it’s time West Brom introduced cameo man vs Wigan

|

This season has been one that will live very long in the memory for West Bromwich Albion fans, and for obvious reasons. The Baggies are flying high at the top of the Championship, sitting four points clear of second and looking likely to make it back to the Premier League this season.

However, as good as Slaven Bilic has been at managing the games that his side play and the way that his team go into these clashes, the last five Championship games in a row have seen the Baggies start with the same front three of Matheus Pereira, Hal Robson-Kanu and Callum Robinson.

The English second flight is certainly an unforgiving league and one that is not an easy one to get out of without proper management, and rotation will always come into the conversation as something that simply has to happen when trying to navigate a 46 game season.

With that in mind, it must be time for us to see Kamil Grosicki from the start. The Polish winger was one of the club’s attacking reinforcements in January, signing for an undisclosed fee on an 18-month contract (BBC), and after a number of cameo displays, it’s time he got a start.

Against Preston North End in midweek, he came off the bench and pulled off a lovely nutmeg to get in behind the opposition defence, although failed to shoot and make the most os the opportunity, something that he may not have done with more minutes in his legs, and it’s up to Bilic to ensure he’s up to speed.

Are you happy with Kamil Grosicki?

Yes

No

The fans have loads of time for the attacking talent in their squad and it seems ludicrous that a team in the Championship is as good as it is to have Grosicki warming the bench for five straight games in the league and only making the odd cameo appearance.
