The Baggies have today received an official approach from the FA for permission to talk to Roy Hodgson concerning the doomed England managerial seat.
Albion confirm that they are in negotiations with the head coach over a new contract and that they remain very keen to bring those negotiations to a successful conclusion.
However, as Roy has expressed an interest to look at the opportunity and hear what England have to say, the club have granted him permission to speak to the FA.
In a statement released on wba.co.uk, Chairman Jeremy Peace said.
‘Roy has done a fantastic job over the past 15 months and the fact the FA want to discuss the England role with him is testament to that. Roy is a proud Englishman and we can understand why he wants to speak to the FA, however, we have emphasised to Roy how much we would like him to remain as our Head Coach and continue his major contribution to our project at The Hawthorns.’
Don’t do it Roy, remember how you were treated at Liverpool – that wouldn’t be a patch on the poison chalice of the national team.
