Well you would be wouldn’t you. He also heaped praise on Steve Clarke and his colleagues for their efforts in todays game.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Romelu Lukaku said he couldn’t have hoped for a better start to his short term Albion career, and nor could the club have hoped for a better start under Steve Clarke.

After finding the net on his debut, Lukaku praised Steve Clarke for his preparation work ahead of the game.

‘The most important thing about today was the three points, but the way we passed the ball and the way we defended was perfect. We did what the head coach asked us to do and all credit to to the head coach and the team because we prepared ourselves really well for this game. Our head coach expects a lot from us – he wants a lot of wins.’

As for Lukaku’s debut itself, he added.

‘We need to be humble and work hard, it was a good for confidence to score and we will enjoy today and tomorrow but on Monday we begin preparing for Tottenham. Let’s hope I can continue to score goals for the team and we can get another good result.’

Chelsea fans were interested in how he’s do whilst with us, can’t read too much into today, but the signs are certainly good for his future. If he keeps having this effect though, it’s going to be a sad day when he leaves.
