Zoltan Gera has described his opening goal today as a special moment as he bids to get back on track in his second spell at the club.

Fitness issues and injuries have dogged the Hungarian’s return since he joined back under Roy’s spell, but it looks like he’s got himself a fresh start after today.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Gera said he was delighted with his first goal since returning to the club, and obviously it put us well on our way to a memorable victory over Liverpool – irrespective of how they bleat about the officials.

‘I’m so happy to come back here and score. The Hawthorns is special for me and to score here after the disappointment of last season was really something. The supporters got behind us all the way and it was great for me. I hope we can continue to play like that.’

Gera wasn’t the only one delighted with his first team outing today, Steve Clarke himself said following the game.

‘He’s like a new signing! I’m pleased for Zoltan, he had a horrendous time with injuries. I’m really pleased for him. He works ever so hard, he’s a great professional, and that is a milestone for him to score and come in like that.’
