Kamara breaks foot in fall

The Baggies midfielder fell awkwardly in training and has been told that he faces up to 12 weeks out with a broken bone in his foot. Kamara was a regular for the first-team last season and Bryan Robson will be disappointed that the Senegalese international will be missing for pre-season and the start of the Albion`s Championship campaign.

Robson said, “It`s a blow. You certainly don`t want to be getting injuries in pre-season.”

Kamara was a threat with his pace for us last season, he had the beating of a number of Premiership defenders but his final product has been lacking. He also failed to be much of a threat in-front of goal when gifted opportunities to score. His one goal against Manchester City was a cracking finish but he should have scored more for us last season.

Another blow for Albion was the news that 19-year-old striker Stuart Nicholson will also miss pre-season after spraining an ankle. The youngster broke into the first-team last season after impressing for the reserves. Nicholson is still waiting to open his account for the first-team but he was hoping to impress and see more first-team football this season, the rookie`s injury is a major blow to him as he looked to earn himself a first-team birth.

Albion were looking to bolster their forward-line with a couple more signings and with the news that both of these players will be missing for the near future we will have to step up that search.

One striker who looks set to remain at The Hawthorns is Nathan Ellington. The striker was linked with a return to his former club Wigan but Latics boss Paul Jewell has confirmed that a deal looks unlikely.

Jewell said, “We`ve asked about Nathan but West Brom are reluctant to sell.

“I don`t want to waste time and energy on something that`s not going to happen.

“West Brom just don`t want to sell their players, that`s their prerogative.”

As long as Ellington gets his head down and trains hard he will be a major asset to us this season. The stories linking him with a return to Wigan must have distracted him but the way that his good friend Jason Roberts left the club must have made him think twice about a move back.
