Polish international goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak has today been confirmed as a target for Manchester United as Alex Ferguson looks to strengthen his goalkeeping department.

Kuszczak was one of Albion`s top performers last season and he picked up Match of the Days save of the season for his amazing reflex save against Wigan, one of many fantastic saves last season. He is one hell of a character and wears his shorts back to front for good luck after not realising they were on the wrong way, he played a blinder and he kept with the tradition for the rest of the season.

The Pole-in-goal ousted Chris Kirkland from the side and kept him out all season with some outstanding displays, including breath taking displays at Old Trafford. Ferguson has seen Kuszczak close hand and it is no surprise that a club like United are interested in Tomasz.

United are rumoured to be wanting to offer around £2 million for the keeper who Albion signed on a free-transfer from Hertha Berlin back in 2004, but it will probably take an offer closer to £3 million for Albion to even think about letting the keeper go.

Bryan Robson has already stated that if the offer suits Albion they will consider it, Robson said, ‘Manchester United have an interest but that’s as far as it’s gone.

‘If they make us a big offer we would have to balance it up. We’d have to see whether it would be a good move.’

Robson also added that a move would only happen if the whole package is right and whether the keeper wants to move to United, the latter is a certain yes he would like a move to Man Utd.

There are rumours that Robson wants Giuseppe Rossi or Kieran Richardson on loan for the season as part of the deal if Kuszczak moves the opposite way.

A move involving Richardson would be a far-fetched one as he featured heavily for United last season. Albion fans are a little disappointed with the reaction he gave last season when returning to The Hawthorns after spending the season before on-loan at The Hawthorns, so his return may be met with a few unhappy fans.

As for Rossi we could see the Italian super kid make the move for the season, Ferguson is impressed with what Robson did for Richardson and would be hoping that he could do the same for Rossi. He is one hell of a talent and a move to Albion would be welcomed by Baggies fans.

Albion have also shown an interest in United`s Spanish centre-back Gerard Pique so a move involving him wouldn`t be out of the question.

The worrying thing for Albion is if they receive an offer that is good enough for them then we could end up with just one first-team keeper on the books in Russell Hoult, nothing against Houlty but he is passed his best and Albion need better between the sticks now.

Liverpool`s Scott Carson, West Ham`s James ‘Jimmy` Walker and Newcastle`s Steve Harper could all be available but it remains to be seen who Albion could target to replace Kuszczak if he leaves.
