Journalist Tips West Brom For Surprising League One Capture

|

With deadline day merely a few hours away (depending on when you get up) West Bromwich Albion continue to feature heavily on the rumour mill for the month of January, and with Newcastle United Jacob Murphy a hot topic, we are also being linked with Sunderland’s Bryan Oviedo.

With head coach Darren Moore undoubtedly on the lookout for options following the players following a few loans and departures, not least Wes Hoolahan being out of contract at the end of the month from my memory, left midfielder (cum left wingback) Oviedo is an interesting development as I’m not sure what hole he’s supposed to fill.

The 28-year-old midfielder has 21 appearances to his name for the Black Cats after they dropped in the third tier with successive relegations, but the Costa Rican international is well thought of following his long spell at Everton.

It does feel like a left-field move to me, but he has plenty of experience and given some of the older legs in our midfield I can at least understand the ‘additional legs’ element that might be in play here.

Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie took to social media last night to state.

Some Sunderland fans welcomed the idea if you click on the link, others not so much. Equally some West Brom fans seemed to like the idea, but despite his experience, I’m not sold.
