Roy Hodgson thinks that Youssouf Mulumbu is reaching his full potential and becoming a more competent Premiership midfielder with every game lately.

Roy thinks the partnership with Paul Scharner is starting to bring the best out of both of them, he says that over the last few matches Mulumbu especially has begun to really shine in his defensive midfield role.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Hodgson praised his performance against Sunderland and the improvement he’s seen since joining the club.

‘Youssouf was very good at Sunderland, since I joined Albion, he has done very well.’

On the partnership with Scharner, Roy adds.

‘Youssouf and Paul are interpreting their midfield roles better and better and I hope they’ll continue doing that until the end of the season. I’m certain he is feeling very good about himself, and we’re very pleased to have him.’
