Earlier today West Bromwich Albion officially confirmed the arrival of new Sporting and Technical Director Luke Dowling.
Dowling moves to The Hawthorns with plenty of experience in the role as he did the same job at former club Nottingham Forest, and he also held the Sporting Director role at Watford for four years – he’s credited for the role he played in helping them from the Championship into the Premier League and obviously the task is the same with us following last season’s relegation from the top-flight.
Introducing our new Sporting and Technical Director…
Welcome to The Hawthorns, Luke!#WBAhttps://t.co/1qF3fmRg2C

The surroundings will be somewhat familiar and it shouldn’t take him too long to settle and get his feet under the desk as he’s worked with head coach Darren Moore previously (and ex Michael Appleton) during their spell with Blackburn Rovers.

As can be seen from above, reaction to the news on social media has been mixed as plenty would’ve liked to have seen a return for Dan Ashworth given the success he had previously with us, but fingers crossed Dowling can make his mark quickly as we look for further improvements.
Welcome to the club!
