It wasn’t a great night for West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday evening as we pretty comprehensively crashed out of this year’s EFL Cup at the hands of Crystal Palace who took a 3-0 defeat on the night.

36-year-old former Norwich City and Republic of Ireland international Wes Hoolahan was handed his first start for the club following his arrival at The Hawthorns the other week, and having already made two substitute appearances, he more than took his opportunity to impress the fans and show that there’s plenty of life left in his legs despite his age.

Following his 90 minute showing in the loss, a number of fans took to social media as is the done thing these days to rave about his performance as in the eyes of many he was one of few to actually turn up.

With the youthful element of the squad causing plenty of ructions given our actual starting XI at least Hoolahan was a positive fans could take from the game, as there were few others.
