Departing West Brom man makes Slaven Bilic observation

|

Baggies legend Chris Brunt has paid tribute to West Brom manager Slaven Bilic for the impact he has had since taking over at the club.

Brunt – who joined the Baggies way back in 2007 – has had a quiet final season with the club in terms of game time, as Bilic guided West Brom to automatic promotion to the Premier League in what was his first campaign in charge at The Hawthorns.

But despite the limited opportunities that he himself has had to settle for, it seems Brunt has only praise for the Croatian.

Speaking about the work that Bilic has done at West Brom, Brunt told the Express and Star“He is a top manager.

“He has not picked me all season but that speaks volumes for him that I can sit here and say he has done a great job.

“I respect him as a person. It would be easy for me to sit here and chuck my toys out the pram because I haven’t played a lot this season. But I have got a lot of respect for the job he has done.”

Should Bilic have used Brunt more this season?

Yes

No

You have got to admire what Brunt is saying here.

It must have been tough for him to sit on the sidelines for what was his final season with the club he has done so much for over the years, but with these comments, it shows you just how much the success and stability of the club means to him.

Indeed, you feel that is because of things like this, as much as his contributions on the pitch, that will ensure Brunt is, and will continue to be, such a popular figure at Albion.

Given Bilic did what he was brought into do by securing promotion back to the Premier League, it could be argued that he also got things right when it came to how he used Brunt across the course of the campaign.
