West Bromwich Albion supporters have been biding their time this window and waiting to see who they might bring in during the January transfer window deadline day, but it now looks like they could be set to swoop for Cardiff City’s experienced defender, Lee Peltier.

West Brom are looking to finalise a deal for Cardiff defender Lee Peltier.
The 33-year-old has featured in 25 games for Cardiff so far this season, but has fallen out of favour as of late.
Peltier can play as a right-back and as a centre-back.

The 33-year-old versatile defender is being linked with a move to the Baggies by Sky Sports (16:36), and whilst some of the West Brom fans reading this will be frustrated that they’re being linked with a move for an ageing Championship defender, this deal doesn’t look like a bad one.
No, if anything, this is a clever ploy from Slaven Bilic. Peltier won’t be brought in to lead the charge for the Baggies to get back to the Premier League, but he’s a solid short-term option who can be acquired on the cheap, and should Slaven Bilic’s side return to the top flight then the funds will be there to get a long-term full-back in.
You can read the Baggies’ thoughts on Peltier here:
Lee Peltier not a bad signing imo. Very experienced in the championship and played most weeks for Cardiff #wba

Everyone will moan cause he is 33. But he is actually a decent player. Bilic must see something in him and for that I’m happy #wba https://t.co/pv4jJhCKMQ

Those of you moaning about Peltier may I remind you of a certain GMac #wba

Don’t know why everyone’s panicking when he’ll just be a short term back up

Peltier from Cardiff not sure about this one. I know its cover but bit of a weird one #wba it’s a bit of a Mears signing for me

The Baggies are clearly quite happy with the move for Peltier and will be keen to get it over the line sooner rather than later.
