Relegation from the Premier League is often hugely damaging for a club, with the financial and commercial losses affecting some teams too much for them to ever make a return to the top-flight, yet losing star players is what fans feel the effects of the most.
And for West Brom, their fall from the Premier League to the Championship in 2018 saw a number of star names depart the Hawthorns such as Nacer Chadli, James McClean and Ben Foster, yet it is Jonny Evans that the Baggies seemingly made the least amount of money on, with the Northern Ireland international signing for Leicester City for a reported £3.5m.
Who should fill in for Romaine Sawyers?
Rekeem Harper
Gareth Barry
Chris Brunt
Filip Krovinovic
And with the former Manchester United defender starring for a Foxes side in with a chance to qualify for the Champions League next season, lots of West Brom fans on social media are left frustrated with just how little the club allowed Evans to leave for.
Here’s what many West Brom supporters had to say on Twitter about Evans…
Was always a top 4 centre half. Honestly, he’s probably the best player I’ve seen at the Albion, in terms of ability and caliber

He’s quality. Should of easily got that 20 mil for him.

The low fee was what persuaded him to come

Putrid / moore with the old admin gave them a deal to stay one season and then leave for vastly reduced sums . We should have just sold all of them and rebuilt with at least 20 million more . We ended up selling anyway .

That’s what happens when you get greedy eh?

He would’nt have signed in the first place without the release clause 🤦🏻♂️

Evans has proven his worth for Leicester 10 fold with the Belfast-born centre-back starting 36 games for the Foxes this season.
