Academy prospect Adil Nabi has today put pen to paper on his first professional contract, and he is now tied to the club until the summer of 2013.

The 17 year old penned the two year deal today, and the Baggies also have a clause to extend that by a further year should they wish depending on his progress from this point forward.

The Birmingham born striker has become a regular fixture in the Youth setup and has even been called up to represent England at Youth level. After the progress he’s made the club were very keen to tie him to the club for the foreseeable future.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Sporting and Technical Director, Dan Ashworth, said he was delighted to see Nabi commit to the club.

‘I’m delighted Adil has signed his first pro contract. It highlights the hard work he and his family have put in and is another step on the ladder to him hopefully getting in and around the first team.’

Talking about the first team at this stage in his career just goes to show how well rated the youngster is and how far our Academy boys think he can go in football.

Ashworth goes on to add that the youth coaches are obviously pleased with how Nabi has developed over the last few years as he’s lived up to their initial expectations when he joined the club at 8 years old.

Nabi was also only 14 he appeared in a pre season friendly for the reserves against Hereford, so it also shows the work that our Academy are doing by helping to develop another prospect through to a professional contract.
