West Brom Make Approach For 23-Year-Old Premier League Midfielder

|

With West Bromwich Albion seeing both Harvey Barnes and Bakary Sako depart this month, we are now being heavily linked with out of favour Newcastle United left midfielder Jacob Murphy.

With a day left in the January transfer window before we hit the deadline, Sky Sports claimed earlier today that they understood that we had made a firm loan offer to Newcastle for the 23-year-old’s services until the end of the campaign.

Having made the switch from Norwich City to St James’ Park back in the summer of 2017, he’s only made 21 starting appearances for Rafa Benitez, with 20 coming from the bench. He’s returned one goal in that time.

In 2018/19 he’s made 13 appearances in total, but four starts came in the Cups and only three in the Premier League, so the chances of this deal coming off might be high as we look to add him as a possible option.

He is a former England Under 21 international and his stats at Norwich are far healthier in terms of a goal return, so it might be one to watch.
