West Brom Confirm Experienced Duo Join Us On Trial

|

Whilst most West Bromwich Albion fans may have been salivating over our first pre-season friendly of the summer after the hard yards had been put in during training, Chris Brunt took the armband as we headed to the Hive Stadium to face Barnet on Saturday.

A nicely mixed team was selected by head coach Darren Moore as we took a 3-0 victory with both youth and seniors on display – more about the game shortly – but the eye-opener was that we have taken on Kieran Richardson and Martin Cranie as trialists this week, and they both played.

With news on incomings slow as the media remains dominated by potential departures, whatever individual fans thoughts on Richardson and Cranie are, at least it’s proof that Moore is looking to the future – knows his budgets – and is assessing his options for the campaign ahead.

It might not yet be wow time on signings, but back in the Championship, it’s about being pragmatic.

Admittedly most fans weren’t pleased with the ‘free agent’ element, but some were pleased to see experience being possibly added – it’s too early to dismiss or welcome though – those thoughts can come if and when we sign them.
