Pre-Season Opens For Real As West Brom Take 3-0 Victory Over Barnet – Moore Pleased With Run Out

|

With plenty going on off the pitch for West Bromwich Albion this summer, head coach Darren Moore will have been pleased to distract himself with pre-season training and yesterday things got better for him as a mixed side took a 3-0 win over Barnet as we continue our preparations for the Championship test ahead of us.

Heading to the Hive Stadium in London as we continue to work on our fitness, another solid day of weather proved to be a test for the boys and Moore was certainly not against shaking his first-team pack up as he makes his choices about 2018/19.

Plenty of youngsters were on show, including Max Melbourne who just signed a new two-year deal, but some familiar faces were also leant on – James Morrison as captain for example.

We also had Kieran Richardson and Martin Cranie on show as trialists as they joined up with us this week.

Albion found the back of the net three times with Kyle Edwards and Hal Robson-Kanu helping himself to a brace as we took the win, so clearly, Moore would’ve been happy with our efforts on the day.

WBA:

Palmer (House 60), Wilson (Ferguson 60), Fitzwater (Jameson 60), Cranie (O’Shea 55), Richardson (Melbourne HT), Phillips (Edwards HT), Barry (Harper HT), Brunt (Bradley HT), Leko (Clayton-Phillips 60), Rodriguez (Tulloch 60), Rondon (Robson-Kanu HT).

Speaking after the game to wba.co.uk Moore thanked Barnet for giving us the test he wanted.

“It was a great game and occasion in excellent facilities. We thank Barnet Football Club for their help in preparing us for the campaign ahead. I was pleased with the performance and the minutes on the pitch. When you play a game of football your legs can tire, your mind can tire because you’ve done so much running. It was difficult conditions so we saw some of the senior players show their experience in how and when to use the ball. There’s no way you can keep up a high tempo in conditions like that. We were against a fresh, energetic Barnet team in tough conditions. In terms of the workout, it was perfect.”

Highlights should be forthcoming some point today from the club, be good to get an impression of how the youngsters, in particular, performed given we can expect to rely on them more next season.
