West Bromwich Albion skipper Jonny Evans has admitted some players were in tears following defeat to Bournemouth. Understandable, a lot of fans have been in tears all season long.
Last weekend saw us surrender a goal advantage with Bournemouth finding the net twice in final 13 minutes of the game to take victory and leave us ten points from safety with only seven games remaining.
With skipper Evans being away on international duty with Northern Ireland during the March break, that hasn’t stopped questions coming think and fast about club life and the BBC have saying that some players were left in tears following the match as everybody was confident we would get something from the game.
‘There was a lot of hope and optimism that we would get something from it. We were upset.’
With Barcelona issues, he was quick to point out that things hadn’t got worse for the club since that event and although he does have a point, we have only taken one victory since August but we’re on a seven game losing streak, it certainly feels that way for many.
‘People try and relate things that aren’t always relatable but before we went to Barcelona and before the manager arranged the trip I think we were bottom of the league. Our performances throughout the season haven’t been up to scratch. We haven’t got enough points on board. I think there is hope. It’s not like we have got to the point where we have accepted relegation.’
Adding.
‘There were a few tears after the game at the weekend. We were ahead and then the game swung in the last 15 minutes and I think it has been the story of our season. It’s hard to take sometimes. Mathematically, though, we still have hope and we keep going until it is mathematically not possible. We owe that to ourselves and the fans to do that. That’s what we will continue to do that.’
It’s the last they should do.
