Simpson in the Bag!

19 year old striker, Jay-Alistaire Frederick ‘Jay’ Simpson, yet to make a first team league appearance for Arsenal, will be linking up with the Baggies on loan when the transfer window re-opens in a few days. He came to prominence with two Carling Cup goals against Wigan earlier in the season.

Simpson personally identified the Albion as a club which play good football, something he suggested was in short supply for other clubs he was looking at gaining expereince at.

The 19 year old said ‘I am just going to go there and try my hardest and try to score as many goals as I can.’

With Ishmael Miller out for the season, the raw pace that Jay can provide should lift some of the responsibilities from the shoulders of Luke Moore.

Mowbray has said ‘Our team needs some help in that department and this boy is unknown quantity at Premier League level. Can he score goals? I don’t know. We will probably give him an opportunity to see whether he can.

‘He’s had a very good upbringing. We will be trying to provide a platform for him to see whether he can do the job. I think the deal is done’

Let’s hope he can have a similar impact to Kieran Richardson, himself an unproven youngster when he joined the club who left after a six month period with two England goals and a club he had helped keep in the top flight.
