Roy’s Response: A Huge Win

Roy Hodgson explained after our 3-2 victory over Sunderland that at first, he didn’t think it was going to be our day.

That’s certainly a thought you can appreciate after Bardsley put the Black Cats ahead again within minutes of us first finding an equiliser – but thankfully the Baggies don’t roll over and die, and we thoroughly deserved the win having come from behind twice.

Speaking to wba.co.uk the gaffer said.

‘I was very happy with the performance, it was a huge win. When you go behind again to a goal like Bardsley’s you can be forgiven for thinking it isn’t going to be your day, but the players composed themselves well and in the second half we played very well and were good value for our victory.’

The victory also marks a couple of records. Four away wins in a Premier League season (2 on the trot), and two doubles over a team in a Premier League season if I’ve got that right.

It doesn’t end their either, if Peter Odemwingie can bag himself another goal then he’ll become our higher ever scoring in the Premier League – replacing Robert Earnshaw’s record with 11 in the Great Escape.

The first few of many more under Roy I’d hope.
