Report: West Brom’s stance revealed after significant EFL development

West Brom are still determined to play the remaining nine games of the season, even though they could be promoted without kicking another ball.

With no games having been played in this country since March, there has been a lot of speculation about how the season will play out, whilst plans have to be made if the campaign can’t continue. And, there was a significant development on that front yesterday, with the EFL recommending that points per game is used if it can’t be completed.

That ruling needs 51% of clubs to agree to pass but if it did happen it would mean the Baggies are promoted as of now. Yet, the Telegraph have revealed that the focus at The Hawthorns is on playing the final nine fixtures and they are keen to win promotion on the pitch.

It has been made clear throughout that the Championship are looking to finish the season but it the vote following the EFL’s recommendations goes through it can be applied should anything stop the campaign in the coming weeks or months.

Players are set to return to training on Monday and there is a hope that the league can restart in June. The challenge for Albion will to be get back on track after failing to win in their last three games in all competitions before the enforced break. Slaven Bilic’s men are six points clear of third-placed Fulham, although they are due to play the Cottagers at home before the season finishes.
