Report: West Brom unite with West Midlands rivals to lift fan morale amid global crisis

|

West Brom have united with West Midlands rivals Wolves to increase the morale of supporters as the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect daily life in the UK and around the world.

The Express and Star report that the Baggies will take up a similar scheme that Wolves have launched in recent days, in which the club will be making phone calls to season ticket holders over the age of 70 to check in on them and offer personal assistance, such as buying food or picking up medication if needed.

The Albion Foundation have also pledged 150 food parcels to be distributed between NHS workers, food banks and special schools in the local area, which is just the latest in a series of gestures the club have taken in the past few days to aid those on the frontline fighting off the coronavirus outbreak in the UK.

Football clubs have been coming together in the past few weeks to do all they can to help those in need during this global pandemic, with Premier League giants Arsenal announcing this week that they will be donating £100,000 to local charities and organisations, as well as offering community cars in north London as transport for NHS mental health workers.

The coronavirus pandemic has altered everyday life in the UK at a rapid pace, and whilst everyone has done their part in participating in social distancing and limiting the number of times they go outside, football clubs across the country have been playing a big role in keeping community spirit thriving, and West Brom have taken great strides in ensuring that their fans and others are safe during this unusual and unprecedented period in modern history.
