Report: West Brom targeting move for £1.8million-rated left-back

|

West Brom are keen to sign Brentford defender Rico Henry as the Baggies look to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to the Premier League, a report from The Daily Mail has claimed.

Henry enjoyed an impressive campaign with the Bees in the season just gone, starting in every single regular season and play-off game played by Thomas Frank’s side, with his contributions helping to earn him a £1.8million valuation on Transfermarkt.

But having missed out on promotion to the Premier League following their defeat to Fulham in Tuesday’s play-off final, it now looks as though the vultures are starting to circle around Brentford, and it seems that includes West Brom.

According to the latest reports, the Baggies are chasing Henry as they aim to make themselves competitive in the top-flight next season.

Slaven Bilic’s side are not however, the only Premier League side credited with an interest in Henry, with Brighton, West Ham and Leeds all also thought to be keen on a move for the 23-year-old.

As things stand, there are three years remaining on Henry’s contract at Brentford, securing his future with the London club until the end of the 2022/23 season, and putting the Bees in a strong position to negotiate any offers that come in for the defender.

Would Rico Henry be good enough for West Brom next season?

Yes

No

This would certainly be a useful signing for West Brom to pull off.

Henry has been impressive throughout the course of the campaign just gone for Brentford with both his ability and consistency, meaning he could be a reliable asset for the Baggies in the Premier League.

You also feel that the player himself could be keen to get his opportunity in the top-flight of English football.

But with so many players being linked with moves away, Brentford may want to show their strength by retaining some of their key men, and Henry’s contract situation means he is one they could do that with.
