Report: West Brom target signing of £4.95million-rated attacker

|

West Brom are interested in signing Sheffield United attacker Callum Robinson on a permanent basis, Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has revealed.

Robinson only joined Sheffield United from Preston last summer, but spent the second half of last season on  loan with the Baggies, during which time he scored three goals and provided two assists in 16 appearances to help Slaven Bilic’s side win automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Now it seems as though West Brom are keen to bring the Republic of Ireland international – who is valued at £4.95million by Transfermarkt – on a permanent basis.

According to Dorsett’s latest update, the Baggies have held initial talks with Sheffield United about re-signing Robinson on what would be a substantive deal as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.

However, West Brom are not thought to be alone in their interest in Robinson, with other clubs – including one from the Premier League – said to be keen to sign the 25-year-old.

As things stand, there are still three years remaining on Robinson’s contract with Sheffield United, securing his future at Bramall Lane until the end of the 2022/23 season.

This could really be a useful signing for West Brom if they are able to pull it off.

Robinson certainly added an element of attacking impetus to the Baggies on the pitch following his loan move back in January, and you do feel as though the club will need that again next season if they are to be competitive in the Premier League.

Even so, this does not look as though it will be a cheap deal for the club to secure given Robinson’s contract situation and the fact that there is interest from elsewhere, meaning they will have to be careful not to price themselves out of moves for other players, with other areas of their squad needing to be strengthened as well.
