Report: West Brom lining up seven-figure move for Europe based midfielder

|

West Brom are interested in signing Besiktas attacking midfielder Adem Ljajic during the summer transfer window, a report from Turkish outlet Fanatik has claimed.

Ljajic initially joined Besiktas on loan from Torino in the summer of 2018, before making his move to the Turkish giants permanent 12 months later, and has gone onto make 61 appearances and score 16 goals in all competitions during his time at the club.

Now it seems that Ljajic could be on the move again this summer, with The Hawthorns looking like a possible destination for the 28-year-old.

According to the latest reports, Baggies manager is keen to raid his former club for Ljajic – as well as defender Domagoj Vida – with the attacker reportedly unsettled at Besiktas.

It is thought that Besiktas are willing to sell Ljajic in order to help raise funds amid a difficult financial situation at the club, with West Brom said to be lining up an €8million offer for the winger.

As well as providing some much-needed funds from sales, the report also states that Ljajic and Vida are among Besiktas’ highest earners, meaning this could also help clear some sizeable bills for the Istanbul-based club.

That does however, mean this is a move that West Brom may need to exercise an element of caution over.

Ljajic and Vida could certainly be useful assets to their squad ahead of the Baggies’ return to the Premier League, given their top-flight pedigree, and it would be something of a show of intent from the club if they were to pull it off.

But given the apparent size of Ljajic and Vida’s wages, and the fact the duo may not be entirely cheap signings, West Brom may need to be careful not to overspend here, and prevent themselves from carrying out other important business, or putting the club in a difficult financial position of their own,
