Report: West Brom renew interest in £6.75million-rated international

|

West Brom have revived their interest in signing Dinamo Zagreb winger Mislav Orsic, a report from Croatian outlet Index.hr has claimed.

The Baggies were linked with a move for Orsic back in the January window, when the club reportedly saw bids of £6.7million and £7.5million rejected by Zagreb, with the Croatian giants apparently holding out for a fee of £8.3million.

Orsic then went on to complete an impressive, title-winning campaign with Zagreb that saw him score 21 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions, earning him a rating of £6.75million on Transfermarkt.

Now it seems as though those recent performances have tempted West Brom into action, with the latest reports claiming that the Baggies have offered £8.5million to sign Orsic, which would suggest they will meet Zagreb’s asking price for the winger.

Would Orsic be a good signing for West Brom?

Yes

No

This therefore looks like an interesting prospect for West Brom.

Having met Zagreb’s valuation, and with Orsic likely to be keen on a move to the Premier League – especially to play under his fellow countryman in Slaven Bilic – this is a move you could certainly see happening.

With attacking options something of a concern ahead of that return to the top-flight of English football, it would certainly be useful for West Brom if Orsic was to reproduce this season’s return were he to make the move to The Hawthorns this summer.

However, it could be argued that the Premier League is a rather sizeable step up from the Croatian league, meaning this could be something of a risk for the Baggies if Orsic fails to adapt quickly, meaning Bilic will surely have to be convinced of the 27-year-old’s ability before signing off on this deal.
