Report: West Brom line up swoop for experienced 50-cap international

|

West Brom are already making plans for their potential promotion, with Slaven Bilic keen to add midfielder Milan Badelj to the ranks.

The Croatian international, who has won 50 caps since making his debut under Bilic back in 2010, is currently on loan at Fiorentina from Lazio. Even though Badelj has made 19 appearances for La Viola, he has spent the majority of the past few months on the bench, so it’s unclear where his long-term future lies.

And, a report from Croatia suggests that the Albion chief could reunite with the 31-year-old in the coming months, as they claim he could be available for as little as €2.4m. That may seem a cheap price given Badelj’s is featuring in Serie A right now, however it indicates the midfielder has no future at Lazio and he is also entering the final 18 months of his contract in the capital.

Would Milan Badelj be a good signing if we're promoted?

Yes

No

Either way, it seems apparent any potential deal will rest on Albion winning promotion, which does seem likely as Bilic’s men are in a fantastic position with just nine games of the season left to play. They hold a six-point lead over third-place Fulham in the race for automatic promotion, although the Cottagers are due to play the Baggies before the season finishes.

If this transfer does go through, Badelj could become the second Croatian to play at The Hawthorns, with Filip Krovinovic on loan in the West Midlands from Benfica and the Baggies are hoping to secure him on a permanent basis as well ahead of next season.
