Report: West Brom join race for former attacker with 100 Premier League minutes this season

|

West Brom are one of the many Championship sides eager to sign Burnley attacker Matej Vydra, who is available with two days of the transfer window left to wheel and deal.

The Bristol Post report that the Baggies, as well as the likes of Bristol City and Nottingham Forest, are all interested in the Czech Republic international, with Vydra keen to play regular first-team minutes to book his place in this summer’s EURO 2020 squad for his home nation.

Vydra joined Burnley in the summer of 2018 from Derby, however, the former Championship star, who was once on the books at West Brom for a year, has failed to translate his goal-scoring abilities in the English second-tier into the first, with the former Watford star playing just 100 minutes of Premier League football this season as stats from Transfermarkt show.

Will West Brom make another signing before the deadline?

Yes, Bilic knows we need signings

No, we've wasted too much time

With West Brom confirming the loan signing of Callum Robinson from Sheffield United yesterday, Slaven Bilic is keen to add a second attacker this month as the Croatian revealed to The Express and Star following the Baggies 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City, and Vydra has seemingly emerged as a late target.

Mislav Orsic has been another name that has consistently been linked with a move to West Brom as reported by The Birmingham Mail, yet talk of a transfer has died down over the past few days despite Bilic admitting to The Express and Star he is interested in the Dinamo Zagreb star.

With time quickly running out for West Brom to add a second attacker to their ranks this transfer window, a move for Vydra could well be in the works as we speak, and with Burnley keen to offload the 27-year-old forward, a deal could be completed quickly should the Baggies make an offer for their former player.
