Report details Slaven Bilic’s role in West Brom transfer pursuit

|

West Brom manager Slaven Bilic has taken a leading role in the club’s attempts to sign Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida, a report from Turkish outlet Takvim, via Sport Witness, has claimed.

The Baggies have been linked with a move for Vida on a number of occasions this summer, and it seems as though there is a chance that that move could happen.

According to the latest reports from Turkey, Besiktas are keen to offload Vida this summer in an attempt to get their highest-earner of the wage bill, and the club are now waiting for an offer to come in for the Croatian, and it seems the Baggies are looking to take advantage of that.

It is thought that Bilic is leading the pursuit to bring his fellow countryman to The Hawthorns, with the 51-year-old still possessing contacts in Turkey from his own time in charge of Besiktas between June 2013 and May 2015.

There are two years remaining on Vida’s current contract with Besiktas, securing his future at the club until the end of the 2021/22 season.

This certainly seems as though it makes sense for Bilic to take the lead in the club’s attempts to sign Vida this summer.

As a fellow Croatian and having previously managed Besiktas, you feel Bilic has just the right connections required to pull this move off, and it appears as though it is one his former club would be happy to sanction.

Indeed, given the lift this signing could give the Baggies ahead of their return to the Premier League, it would only go to reinforce the importance that Bilic has to the club if he can be the one who secures Vida’s services for the Baggies.
