Steven Reid is relishing the fresh competition that Billy Jones will bring for the right back berth next season.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Reid welcomed the arrival of the new signing from Preston, but the 30 year old made it clear he was in no mind to give up his spot easily after putting in admirable performances once Roy arrived at the club, so if right back can’t be his, he’s happy to move back into midfield.

‘I’ve spoken to a few lads throughout the summer and they’ve mentioned what a good player he is, it’ll be good competition and I’m looking forward to the season ahead.’

Speaking more about himself, Reid adds he just wants to be playing and he doesn’t really mind where that is.

‘I was pleased with the way I finished the season and hopefully I can continue to be part of the plans under the gaffer, whether that’s right back or slotting in at central midfield. I’d just be delighted to be out there, I’m not too bothered where I play.’
