Chris Brunt has said he is hoping to keep the armband next season, regardless of who Roy Hodgson may choose to bring in.

Speaking to wba.co.uk the midfielder said he was hopeful of remaining captain for the coming season, especially as he’s enjoyed the added responsibility the role brings him.

‘I’ve been here long enough to start taking responsibility now, it does give you a different outlook. Most of the lads have been happy enough with it so I’m happy to do it until the head coach tells me otherwise.’

One of the added responsibilities is the ear of Hodgson on team matters, and that’s one of the things Brunt enjoys the most.

‘The head coach runs things past me in the week and it’s nice to be involved in that side of thing.’
