Ref Called The Penalty Wrong

Steve Clarke has bemoaned the fact we were hard done by when TV replays have shown the foul on Billy Jones was inside the penalty box in the first half today.

Speaking to wba.co.uk after watching the replays, Clarke said.

‘If the referee gives the foul, which he did, it’s a stonewall penalty because it happened in the box. The referee gave a free kick and the challenge was clearly inside the box. On another day we might have got it but we didn’t.’

Steve Clarke did have special praise for Billy Jones’ overall performance and his first goal for Albion, and he also became the first Englishman to score for us this season.

‘It’s great he scored, he’s also the first Englishman to score for us this season, so don’t forget to write that! He’s done well Billy, he deserves it.’
