Clarke – Pleased With Fightback

Steve Clarke has said he was pleased to see Albion fightback for a point in what he thought was a game of two halves today against Newcastle.

Speaking to wba.co.uk after the 1 all draw, Clarke said he was bitterly disappointed with our performance in the first half, but we were much improved in the second half of the game.

‘I asked for a little bit of aggression, momentum and rhythm for the second half. I did speak before the game that I was a little bit concerned we’d only played two games in 34 days. Training does not replicate games because you never get that intensity. The first half showed my concerns were justified.’

Clarke says that he feels a point overall based on the game was a fair result, but with our much improved second half performance on another day he feels we could’ve nicked it at the death.
