Steve Clarke has said he can take plenty of positives out of today’s loss to Southampton, and he doesn’t believe we’ll struggle for goals this campaign.
Speaking to the Official Site following the late loss by penalty, Clarke said he feels that following the performance we are more than going to be competitive this season and pointed towards James Morrison’s chance on 66 minutes as well as Artur Boruc’s wonder save in the dying moments of the match as proof that on another day, we’d have taken all three points ourselves.
‘It’s only the first game of the season and it looked like being a 0-0. I don’t think we’ll struggle to score goals. Southampton defended well, we created two or three good opportunities and Boruc made an unbelievable save at the end. Today wasn’t our day.’
