Opinion: West Brom given massive boost as they hunt Championship title

|

The Championship title race has been blown wide open over the last few weeks. The Baggies are still well in the mix and should be the favourites to finish top of the table after 46 games given the strength of their side and their current record in the division so far.

However, the Baggies have now been given a huge boost in their pursuit of top spot in the Championship, as the news has come through that Grady Diangana will be staying at The Hawthorns until the end of the season and completing his loan spell, despite rumours West Ham could recall him.

The news, that can be read on the West Bromwich Albion website (wba.com), is huge for the fans and for the club, as the young winger has been integral to the way that Slaven Bilic’s side have played this season, and his stats for the club so far this season only further prove that.

The young West Ham loanee has registered the highest WhoScored rating for his performances this season of the entire West Brom squad, only second to Matheus Pereira, and when you take a deeper delve into his stats it’s easy to see why.

Five goals and five assists in 17 starts and four substitute appearances is mightily impressive, but the deeper stats show his impact. So far this season, Diangana is averaging 1.5 shots, 1.3 key passes and 2.3 dribbles per game, as well as winning 1.4 fouls and managing 1.5 tackles and 0.5 interceptions per game.

Are West Brom going to bottle their position in the top-two?

Yes

No

The youngster truly is putting in the hard yards at both ends, and with Diangana now guaranteed to remain a West Brom player for at least the rest of the season the fans have got a real reason to celebrate, as promotion should come much easier with the winger than without him
