Opinion: As star man’s injury layoff is confirmed West Brom could be in trouble

|

West Bromwich Albion fans, how good has this season been so far? The recent dip in form is something that may have caused some concern, but the Baggies are still in a great place, top of the Championship and into the 5th round of the FA Cup, although things could be set to get tougher.

The Hawthorns could well be a Premier League stadium once again if Slaven Bilic plays his cards right between now and the end of the season, but the fact that the West Midlands side are to be without Grady Diangana for a length of time is far from ideal.

The on-loan West Ham man is nothing short of a superstar. He’s made the Championship his stomping ground this season, and the fact that he’s going to be out until March, according to Joseph Masi of The Express and Star, is a massive blow for the club and their chances of winning the league.

The on-loan wide-man is one hell of a player. For the Albion this season, the 21-year-old has managed five goals and six assists in his 21 appearances in the Championship (Transfermarkt), but now he’s set to miss the entire month of February, and that could come at a real cost to the Baggies.

West Brom have got a whopping seven games in the Championship this month, they’ve already overcome Luton 2-0, but they still have games against Millwall, Preston, Nottingham Forest, Bristol City, Wigan and Reading to contend with.

Should West Brom sign Diangana permanently?

Yes

No

That’s not at all ideal for Bilic, but at least he’s being helped by the fact that Leeds don’t fancy winning games at the moment either. The Baggies have a narrow lead in the Championship title race, but maintaining out without Diangana will certainly be a tough ask.
