Steve Clarke has said that Peter Odemwingie remains in contention for the game against Sunderland, and it’s simply a matter of when, not if, he appears in the first team again.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Clarke explained.

‘I’ve got 20 players available and he’ll be involved with the 20. He’ll be under consideration just like the rest, the final 18 will depend on training, how I see the game and how I feel the best way to approach the game is. Peter is available for selection.’

Clarke says he has spoken to Odemwingie in the meantime, although nothing indepth, everybody knows the situation and Peter knows what he has to do when his chance comes along.

In versions of this interview carried by the press Clarke also calls on the fans to continue to cheer the team, even if some amongst us can’t bring ourselves to cheer for Odemwingie himself. The club is what matters, as a whole, not individuals. Saying specifically.

‘If Peter scores a hattrick and they choose not to celebrate Peter’s goals, they should celebrate the fact that the team have scored.’
